JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions that support enterprise analytics and business intelligence needs. This role focuses on building and optimizing batch data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Fabric, and Azure Synapse Analytics, as well as developing dimensional data models and data warehouse architecture to ensure high performance and reliability. The engineer will troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline failures, monitor execution, and implement proactive alerting mechanisms. Collaboration with data analysts, BI developers, and stakeholders is essential to understand requirements and deliver accurate, high-quality data solutions. Additionally, the Senior Data Engineer will lead code reviews, enforce best practices, and continuously identify opportunities for automation and process optimization. This position requires participation in on-call rotations and occasional after-hours work for system upgrades and outages.

JOB DUTIES

• Design, develop, and maintain batch data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Fabric, and Azure Synapse Analytics
• Build and optimize dimensional data models including fact tables, dimension tables, and slowly changing dimensions
• Develop and maintain data warehouse architecture following best practices for scalability and performance
• Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and optimize query performance
• Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline failures, data quality issues, and performance bottlenecks
• Monitor pipeline execution and implement alerting mechanisms for proactive issue detection
• Collaborate with data analysts, BI developers, and stakeholders to understand data requirements
• Implement data quality checks and validation rules to ensure data accuracy and consistency
• Document data pipelines, data models, and technical processes
• Lead code reviews and contribute to data engineering best practices
