JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Child and Adolescent Therapist
Department: Clinical Services
Supervises: None
Reports To: Supervisor of Program
Effective Date: 06/11/2025
Job Purpose
Provides comprehensive assessments to determine appropriate treatment, delivers evidence-based therapy, and ensures high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting in accordance with clinical best practices and agency standards primarily to children and adolescents.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Conducts comprehensive assessments to determine medically necessary and appropriate services in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Provides therapeutic interventions utilizing evidence-based modalities to ensure effective, efficient, and client-centered treatment.
- Delivers individual, group, and family therapy using research-supported techniques and curricula.
- Coordinates care with healthcare professionals, including physicians and social workers, to ensure integrated, comprehensive client treatment.
- Ensures high-quality customer service and maintains accurate documentation of all interactions.
- Adheres to program and center guidelines for billable activities.
- Maintains expertise in organizational policies, licensure regulations, CARF Standards, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements governing service delivery.
- Meets agency-defined productivity benchmarks while maintaining the integrity and quality of services provided.
Qualifications
Primary Attributes
Professional & Technical Knowledge:
- Possesses the equivalent of extensive formal training in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling, including an understanding of the application of the theory and practices of the
profession to the operations of the organization, usually in the form of a major in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling as part of a Master’s Degree (or other applicable extended training program). Previous experience working with children and adolescents is also beneficial to the role.
Continuing Education:
- Maintains current knowledge of standards of care and practices, typically acquired through continuing education.
Licenses & Certifications:
- A valid state-issued driver’s license is required in specific programs as well.
- Possession of a discipline-specific professional license or eligibility for licensure with West Virginia licensing boards is preferred but not mandatory.
