Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is currently seeking to fill a Product Accounting Assistant position at the Sweeny, Clemens, Old Ocean facility. The Accounting Assistant job is responsible for entering and verifying daily product transactions and inventory balances, month end closing tasks and SAP entries, inventory reconciliations, and other yield accounting duties. In addition, this position may assist with daily service entries in SAP, some general accounting items, and special projects.
Responsibilities
- Verifies daily and month end entries between plant's production accounting systems (such as Aspen, AORA, Pi LIMS and Yardmaster) and SAP
- Works with plant units, business lines, Finance, and other Plant departments to resolve discrepancies between SAP, plant and other systems
- Handles month-end product inventory reconciliation and SAP transaction verification during close
- Collects data and assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual government yield reports
- Supports contract verification for entering service entries into SAP in accordance with contract verification policy
- Assists with service entry GR/IR reconciliation
- Ensure Compliance with accounting principles and operating agreements
Required Qualifications
- A minimum education of High School diploma/GED
- A minimum of 3 years of related experience processing product accounting data and understanding inventory reconciliation OR a minimum of an associate’s degree related to Accounting/Business
- Able to process, analyze and verify transactional data accurately and timely
- A quick aptitude to recognize problems and resolve quickly
- Strong customer service and the ability to work effectively with internal and external customers
- Microsoft Office proficiency (excel and word)
- Ability to improve processes, implement change and adapt to new processes and systems
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, with time management and organizational skills required
- Ability to accommodate occasional overtime
Preferred Qualifications
- Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- SAP experience
- Microsoft Office Excel (sort, filter, pivot tables, basic formulas, etc)
- College accounting courses
- Knowledge of AspenTech AORA product system
