Position Summary:  Instructs elementary students in class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishing effective rapport with pupils; motivating pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; and establishing good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College/University
• Experience: Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others,demonstrate self-discipline and initiative. Follow state and district guidelines.
• License:Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements
• Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.

1. Teach courses in area of certification to elementary school pupils, using the Common Core Standards and any acceptable curriculum, the standards and benchmarks identified for each course, and other curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
2. Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
3. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials stressing discovery and laboratory learning as necessary depending on subject taught.
4. Demonstrate subject matter concepts and examples using models, Smartboard, overhead projector, computers, Chromebooks or any other standard or approved teacher-prepared instructional aids.
5. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
6. Provide opportunities when needed for individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the pupils.
7. Utilize grading patterns that are fairly administered and based on identified criteria.
8. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Treat pupils with respect and dignity.
9. Evaluate pupils' academic growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
10. Select instructional aids, and instructional supplies; maintain required inventory records.
11. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
12. Interact with pupils, staff and parents in a positive and professional manner.
13. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
14. Establish rapport with pupils and provides a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning.
15. Actively participate in full implementation of the curriculum created by the curriculum team.
16. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
17. Supervise pupils in and out-of-class activities during the assigned working day.
18. Administer standardized tests in accordance with the district and state guidelines.
19. Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
20. Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
21. Reinforce school board policies and regulations.
