What You'll Do

As a YMCA Lifeguard, you'll be the guardian of our aquatic programs, ensuring every swimmer has a safe and positive experience. Your responsibilities include:

• Maintain Active Pool Surveillance – Be the watchful eyes that keep everyone safe
• Emergency Response – Apply your training to respond quickly and effectively to any situation
• Program Support – Assist with swimming lessons, fitness classes, and recreational activities
• Facility Maintenance – Help maintain our pools and equipment to the highest standards
• Member Engagement – Create positive interactions that make every visit memorable
• Team Collaboration – Work closely with aquatic staff to deliver exceptional programs 

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum age 15 years old
• Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
• Current Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications
• Strong swimming abilities and rescue skills
• Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
• High levels of responsibility and maturity
• Commitment to enforcing safety policies with courtesy and firmness

We'll Provide Training For:

• YMCA Lifeguard v6 Certification (within 90 days)
• YMCA Lifeguard v6 Instructor Certification
• Aquatic Department Orientation
• Community Health and Safety programs

What Makes You Stand Out:

• Basic knowledge of pool chemistry and maintenance
• Previous customer service experience
• Passion for water safety and community service
• Reliable attendance and punctuality

Physical Requirements

This active role requires:

• Ability to sit in elevated positions for extended periods
• Strong swimming and rescue capabilities
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and assist with pool rescues
• Excellent vision and hearing for monitoring pool areas
• Comfort working in humid, chemical-treated pool environments
