About the role

Job Description/Summary: Kansas City Girls Academy, a Christian boarding school for at-risk teen girls ages 12-17, is looking for a Masters Level Counselor who is a mature Christian and has a passion for working with struggling teens and their families. The Counselor will assist students in gaining insight into their problems, define goals, and plan action. The position requires weekly staff meetings, individual counseling, group counseling, and case management services for their students. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to blend their clinical training with their biblical knowledge in an effort to help teens overcome their trauma.

Counselor Requirements:

  • Master's degree (preferred) in Counseling or in a relevant field such as psychology, social work, pastoral counseling, etc.
  • Must understand the practical application of Biblical principles

  • Previous experience working with youth and families is preferred

  • A background check and pastoral or ministerial leader reference is required.

Necessary skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high standards of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong time management, critical thinking, and documentation skills

  • Ability to create a comfortable, safe environment for students and parents

  • Understanding of the issues facing teens and applicable intervention strategies
