About the role

POSITION SUMMARY: The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Component Engineering organization generates technical requirements and associated design parameters for the modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) NSSS. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies NSSS components are engineered to nuclear industry standards. The NSSS Component Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers responsible for the design or analysis of NSSS reactor pressure vessel, containment vessel, reactor vessel internals, and primary equipment supports. Depending on the candidate’s skillset the team will either have a design or analysis focus. Design candidates would be expected to have experience with Design Specifications and Drawings (including tolerance stack-ups) of Section III ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel components. Analysis candidates would be expected to have experience with Subsection NB, NG, and NF analyses; individuals with dynamics experience (e.g., seismic) of nuclear components will also be considered.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manages a team of professionals and provides assistance and mentoring on technical work.
  2. Leads peer reviews and technical audits to ensure conformance to requirements.
  3. Prepares and reviews engineering specifications, drawings, reports and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of systems, structures and components associated with the nuclear steam supply system.
  4. Provides technical and advisory assistance to other projects and offices.
  5. Participates in developing and updating company technical standards and practices.
  6. Prepares estimates, schedules, man-hour, manpower, and material forecasts.
  7. Understands and applies sound approaches and standards for solving technical problems in applicable discipline, and leads crossfunctional projects within areas of responsibility.
  8. Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving timecards, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
  9. Develops technical statements of work.
  10. Evaluates performance, administers coaching, and conducts annual performance reviews.
  11. Develops training materials in areas of subject matter expertise.
  12. Develops team members’ capabilities in support of individual career goals and team objectives.
  13. Interfaces and coordinates with internal and external clients as required for successful project execution.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
