Financial Analyst

Reports to the Finance Department Leadership, and serves in the capacity as a key resource to the subsidiaries and affiliates of the organization. This position will collaborate with other finance business partners and internal stakeholders to achieve overall department and organizational objectives. The individual supports subsidiaries/affiliates and their teams with all finance-related matters, including financial reporting, technical accounting research, earnings analysis, planning, and performance management of strategic projects. The position is critical to the continuous improvement of subsidiaries/affiliates financial results and delivering fact-based decision making. The individual is knowledgeable about core company and subsidiary/affiliate initiatives and the current and future financial performance of the overall business unit.

This position will also support corporate development financial analysis, including valuation, due diligence, financial impact analysis, and purchase accounting. Additionally, this position will draft the technical accounting research, documentation, and implementation for closed transactions. This position will also assist in the reporting and monitoring of transaction performance and provide necessary post-close support.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Assisting Financial Analysis Activities for Business Units:

Supports finance department in providing the Corporate Development business unit with accurate, timely, and actionable management information.  Specific duties include:

• Drafting financial analysis and data insights
  • Financial reporting
  • Earnings analysis
  • Financial planning
• Assists in the development of the annual plan / detailed expense budgets
  • Support in the production of the annual budgets and forecasts
  • Helps in the creation of long-term financial projections
• Supports strategic initiatives related to acquisitions and divestitures
  • Drafting valuation models that track key metrics such as NPV and IRR
  • Performs thorough financial due diligence and is able to articulate findings to the Manager, FP&A Business Partner, and above

Technical Accounting Research and Documentation:

• Technical accounting research and documentation for closed transactions and significant events
• Monitors and evaluates the impact of new accounting guidance to the organization and presents findings and recommendations to finance department leadership
• Works in partnership with internal contacts to implement new technical accounting guidance into financial reporting processes and the internal control environment

Support Overall Finance Team:

Collaborates with other finance team members to contribute to accurate and timely results. Specific duties include:

• Assists in monthly and quarterly earnings packages, including variance analysis to forecast, plan, and prior year
• Tracks the financial reporting of all subsidiaries/affiliates for timely results communications
• Provides consultation and technical accounting support for organizational projects
• Works in partnership with internal contacts to implement new accounting guidance into financial reporting processes and the internal control environment
• Monitors key payments related to acquisitions and divestitures to ensure contractual requirements are met

Various Projects as Assigned:

Supports operating segment with strategic initiatives and process improvement efforts to gain efficiencies:

• Works with finance department leadership on strategic corporate objectives that impact finance operations, including new product launches, new carrier or client accounts, and strategic transactions
• Occasionally assists with Allied’s finance transformation, including assessing subsidiary/affiliate integration
• Supports engagements that may require the use of external consultants and accounting firms as applicable
• Assists with the creation of internal memorandums, accounting policies, and procedures

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications & KSA):

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required
• 1-2 years of directly related work experience required
• CPA License strongly preferred
• CFA License could indicate a strong candidate
