Job Description Summary
The Senior Lead Control Designer works with project/lead engineers and peer designers to design and coordinate all technical aspects of substation protection and control. The Senior Lead Control designer will be responsible to implement protection and control designs provided by project / lead engineer or based on customer standards and coordinate with other designers as needed. The Senior Lead Control Designer should have great attention to detail, collaborate well with the project stakeholders and may also be identified as design lead for small size project, which are highly secondary design focused and standardized. Essential Responsibilities:
Is responsible to ensure compliance with CAD standards and customer specifications across all Protection and Control design
Provide support, training and guidance to new team members, including remote back office
Has knowledge of best practices and understand how his/her work integrates with others
Initiate and Drive design standardization, optimization within the team
Perform peer reviews to identify and resolve any design errors.
Develop high quality protection and control drawings based on project requirements and customer standards and including Safety in Design aspects.
Develop high quality low voltage design drawing integrating LV equipment and auxiliary services such as AC and DC distribution, battery and battery chargers, etc.
Has demonstrated experience with design tools (Autocad, Microstation, etc.)
Understand and support application of design process including gate and design reviews
May lead low risk small projects and manage following responsibilities:
- Interface will all project stakeholders, including customer
- Support development of project scope
- Design team lead and design activities coordination
- Support or act as documentation controller for timely submission of documents to the customer
Organize and lead design control team meeting to share experience and lessons learned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in protection and control design.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Protection and Control design for transmission, distribution, or generation substations
Has minimum 5 years’ experience with the design and integration of Low Voltage equipment and
Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time for meetings and site scoping in customer installations
Desired Characteristics:
Has experience with GE Vernova design standards and process
Strong oral and written communication skills.
