Position Summary:
The Finance & Investments group provides analysis, advisory, and decision support services for investment activities of the Apartments division.
Job Duties:
- Project underwriting and performance tracking for new apartment development and acquisitions.
- Prepare key executive-level deliverables to support investment decisions, including financial exhibits, project strategy narratives, capital request memos for Investment Committee, Board packages, and internal executive communication.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts across the organization to gather information and model assumptions; focus on facilitating highly collaborative processes and developing strong working relationships.
- Exhibit mastery of core underwriting and data modeling tools, with a focus on continuous process improvement.
- Develop financial models and analytic frameworks to support new strategic initiatives and ad hoc requests. Identify and succinctly summarize key results for presentation to senior management.
- Assist in the design and implementation of processes, systems, or software to provide foundational support for a robust, data driven environment.
- Support weekly and quarterly division and project status reporting, and project forecasting / business planning efforts.
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
- Strong Academic Background. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field; MBA a plus.
- Superior Communication Skills. This position will be expected to interact in a professional office environment with individuals at all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will be able to develop credibility and influence across the Company through both quality of work product and proactive relationship-building. Experience preparing executive-level materials required, with a focus on written communication (executive memos, capital requests, etc.).
- Proven Analytic Capabilities. Minimum seven years of relevant experience within corporate finance, investment banking, consulting, or commercial real estate; real estate development or acquisition underwriting experience required. Must possess a strong understanding of finance and accounting concepts, with a focus on investment analysis and project performance metrics. Excellent Microsoft Excel and data modeling skills required; knowledge of database structures a plus.
- Self-Motivated Leadership Style. Must be comfortable taking initiative to learn the function, own work product, and spearhead new projects. This position requires being highly organized and sharing the Company’s passion for attention to detail. Expectations include the highest standards of accuracy, ability to think creatively, and a willingness to embrace change and ambiguity.
- Team-Oriented. Analytic functional groups at Irvine Company are lean teams that rely on all members to both own their area of expertise and contribute on new projects as needed. Must possess a willingness to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on capacity, and to contribute positively to a highly collaborative culture.
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $163,100.00 - $208,800.00
Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
