Job Description

The Director of Quality Operations will support the Land Mobile Radio and Video business and will report to the Sr. Director of Quality and Engineering within the Supply Chain function. This individual will be a “change agent” and will drive culture changes focused on ensuring our QMS demonstrates its ability to provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. Additionally, this role is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives with internal MSI manufacturing locations, driving execution of data management and data analytics roadmaps, and inspects quality and engineering processes end to end in collaboration with quality and engineering functional leaders to determine transformational opportunities and drive implementation. The Director of Quality Operations will build, inspire, empower and guide the LMR and Video Quality Operations Organization to deliver best in class quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand customer contracts and determine appropriate ISO Certification needs

  • Collaborate with the integration team to understand and determine how acquired entities will be integrated into MSI’s ISO certifications and QMS

  • Document and retain records for Quality policy scope of QMS; Management Review

  • Maintain documentation of control and revisions

  • Understand risk and opportunities as it relates to ISO and QMS and develop and implement a plan to proactively mitigate risks

  • Calibration and maintenance of traceability, monitoring and measurement of processes

  • Participate in and maintain documentation of internal audits, external/customer audit(s)

  • Facilitate ISO 9001 quality related investigations

  • Lead investigations of customer complaints regarding quality

  • Maintain schedule and participate in audits for ISO 9001 (internal, external and customer)

  • Develop and implement a continuous improvement/six sigma strategy for internal MSI manufacturing locations

  • Collaborate with internal quality and engineering partners to drive execution of the data management and data analytics roadmaps

  • Evaluate quality and engineering processes and collaborate with quality and engineering functions to develop and execute a transformation strategy for the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written

  • Experience managing QMS (Quality Management System)

  • Experience presenting to executive level leadership

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Ability to travel to site locations inclusive of International Travel

  • 10 years of experience leading a global team of direct and indirect employees

  • Expert in Manufacturing operations and quality preferred

  • Expert in ISO 9001 preferred

Basic Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Management, or Supply Chain Management

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt required.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
