Job Description

The Ares Corporate Communications team covers a broad scope of responsibilities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The team is responsible for strategic planning and execution of external, internal and digital communications efforts across Ares’ global platform. Ares Management is seeking a skilled and entrepreneurial communications professional to join the Corporate Communications team as an Internal Communications Associate. This person will work closely with colleagues on internal and external communications and digital/social media, as well as various with internal clients and stakeholders (e.g., Human Resources, Diversity Equity & Inclusion, Philanthropy, Corporate Services, etc.). This role will help build a strong culture of collaboration and grow internal engagement with the Ares brand by developing creative ways to communicate with our internal audiences, building awareness about company initiatives and events, and creating content that engages, connects, and inspires the employee community.  

This role will report to the Vice President of Internal Communications and work closely with members across the Corporate Communications team to help expand the Firm’s communications capabilities.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this role will be focused on providing leverage to the Vice President of Internal Communications and partnering with other members of the Corporate Communications team to deliver best-in-class strategic communications support to internal clients and stakeholders. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the Vice President of Internal Communications in executing Ares’ global internal communications program. 

  • Provide leverage in the creation and project management of internal communications materials/content – including executive communications, video, email communications, talking points, FAQs and live and virtual town halls.

  • Help develop communications programs to drive employee engagement and articulate strategy, strategic initiatives, change management initiatives and cultural programs.

  • Manage the internal communications editorial calendar.

  • Lead the day-to-day management of Ares’ global intranet, including collaborating with teams across the firm to source and develop content as well as identifying and executing site updates that enhance user experience.

  • Support planning and execution of employee events, including firmwide CEO town halls.

  • Track metrics, create reports, and recommend communications strategies based on needs and goals.

  • Deliver fresh ideas, produce high-quality content and help drive results. 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Project manage multiple projects and tasks. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.

Experience Required:

  • 3-4 years of internal communications / employee engagement experience, either in-house or at a strategic communications firm.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to edit/proof for content and context. 

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and agency partners. 

  • Experience working with teams globally across borders, time zones and cultures preferred.

  • Ability to solicit feedback and build consensus.

  • Strong organization skills, ability to multitask and prioritize. 

  • Attention to detail. 

  • Prior experience or knowledge of the financial services industry is a plus.
