Summary:

Anaconda is seeking a talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our rapidly-growing company. This is an excellent opportunity for you to leverage your experience and skills and apply it to the world of data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. 

As the dedicated backend engineer for the Web Experience team, you'll have significant autonomy and impact while collaborating with talented senior and staff backend engineers from other teams. Together, you'll establish backend standards that will shape the entire Anaconda product ecosystem.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead Platform Architecture: Design and implement shared backend services that unify our product ecosystem, including licensing, feature management, and user experience services
• Drive Technical Excellence: Establish API design standards, documentation practices, and architectural patterns that other teams will follow
• Unblock Critical Initiatives: Take ownership of backend work that's currently blocking frontend team progress, ensuring smooth product development
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with Security & Governance, Central Services, and Authentication teams to integrate and optimize backend services
• Infrastructure & DevOps: Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, release management, and infrastructure improvements using Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, and modern observability tools
• Microservices Evolution: Design and implement microservices as the platform scales and evolves
• Performance Optimization: Analyze and improve system performance, focusing on user-facing impact and platform stability
• Technical Leadership: Collaborate with senior and staff engineers across teams on architecture decisions, code reviews, and best practices while serving as the primary backend advocate for Web Experience

What You Need:

• 5+ years building backend systems with proven experience leading platform services, API architecture, or shared infrastructure that supports multiple product teams
• Python Expertise: Strong experience building production backend services in Python
• API Design: Proven track record designing, implementing and maintaining RESTful APIs at scale
• Project Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects from conception to production
• Systems Thinking: Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
• Platform Mindset: Track record of building and maintaining reusable, robust solutions that multiple teams can leverage
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and ability to work with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders
• Production Excellence: Experience with monitoring, observability, and maintaining high-availability services

What Will Make You Stand Out:

• Experience with FastAP preferred, (Flask or Django Acceptable)
• Container orchestration experience (Kubernetes, ECS)
