We are seeking a talented individual to join our Controllership team at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in Urbandale and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
As a Staff Accountant II - Revenue Recognition, you will be a key expert in applying ASC 606 standards, ensuring accurate contract review and financial reporting. You’ll lead projects, support month-end close processes, and collaborate with internal teams and auditors to maintain compliance and drive process improvements. This role offers the opportunity to influence global accounting practices while developing your expertise in a dynamic, team-oriented environment!
We will count on you to:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on company revenue recognition policies in accordance with ASC 606
- Analyze complex transactions against supporting documentation to ensure compliance with company accounting policy
- Take a lead role in cross-functional projects that create efficiency and drive global consistency by partnering with finance, operations and legal teams
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to answer questions and provide support for queries
- Review current control landscape for automation opportunities, including the creation of proposals and project plans
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience
- Prior accounting experience (2+ years preferred), including experience with journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and month-end close
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Excel, including pivot tables
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience working with internal or external audits and implementing process improvements.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent time management skills
