JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
Dignitas Technologies is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to develop and enhance software systems and subsystems in accordance with established requirements and engineering processes. The engineer will independently complete detailed design, development, and integration of software components, while adhering to software engineering standards. They will also support senior engineers in system-level development and documentation efforts. This role includes collaboration with customers and peers, primarily to demonstrate and test software solutions. While not a supervisory position, the engineer may provide technical guidance and mentorship to small development teams. The position reports to the Technical Lead and Program Manager and will involve working under some level of technical supervision.
Essential Job Functions/Duties
Works with minimum guidance to design and develop simulation subsystems:
- Designs/codes applications following specifications using the Unity/Unreal gaming engine.
- Prepares data and presentation material to support design reviews
- Presents technical information relating to assigned subsystems during reviews
- Tests developed subsystems in accordance with specified test procedures and resolves associated discrepancies/deficiencies
- Conducts software teams’ peer reviews to validate adherence to coding and implementation standards
- Assists in the development of test plans and procedures to validate the functional correctness and desired performance of the final product
- Assists technical writers with documenting the design of assigned software subsystems
- Continually apprises supervisor of progress on assigned tasks
- Basic algorithms and design patterns
- Use of an integrated development environment (e.g., Visual Studio or Eclipse)
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Well versed in fundamentals of operating systems, basic algorithms and design patterns
- Software configuration management tool (e.g., Git or Azure DevOps)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong oral and written communications skills

Desired Skills:
- Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal
- Proficiency in C# and C++ application development
- Familiarity with structured data formats, particularly JSON
- Experience developing or supporting web-based applications
- Background in modeling and simulation environments
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Required Education/Certifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience in an engineering discipline with a minimum of five (5) years of simulation training systems development experience or equivalent engineering software development.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Candidate must be capable of obtaining and maintaining US Department of Defense secret security clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required
Work Environment
This position is in the Orlando office and is not a remote or work from home position.
