Mechanical Technician

About the role
Mechanical Technicians (or Technical Operator) are assigned to a line and build capability within the team:
- Communicates WPS and BDE information during the shift Team Meetings:
- Breakdowns occurred the last 24 hours (PM Cards, Dice Charts)
- Follow up needed on breakdowns
- New work requests and defects during the last 24 hours
- Completed PM work during the last 24 hours
- Discuss any findings during PM activity
- Planned maintenance for the next shift (job plan, required resources to execute plan)
- Assure failed components from breakdowns are in parts morgue and PM card is completed in MaintainX
- Validate that all breakdowns have been captured on the department dice chart.
- Reviews Weekly Work Schedule (If Down Do, Work Requests) at each Team Meeting and communicates with the proper resources
- First point of escalation for mechanical problems that cannot be resolved by technician peer
- Coaches shift team peers to build technical and equipment skills
- Assure PM cards are accurately completed and submitted to the department planner
- Gather completed printed work orders to give to the planner. Assure that the shop papers are completed correctly with comments for improvement of CBA (Safety, Information, Material, Parts, Time, Where, When) information.
- Communicates team gaps for WPS and BDE health checks
- Participates in root cause analysis for breakdowns
- Works with the Maintenance Systems Leader (MSL) on improving maintenance plans to reduce MTTR (mean time to repair)
- Looks for opportunities to move unplanned unscheduled maintenance activity to planned scheduled maintenance activity
- Reviews progress of Work Requests to assure completion of maintenance requests and work order orders backlog and its plan for completion
- Builds the capability within the team to enter defects and work requests
- Communicates work order needs with the MSL (parts, resources, job steps)
- Properly checks out parts from the storeroom and coaches team on the storeroom check out process
- Provides technical capability to team to continually improve the Inspection and Lube standards portion of the CIL system
- Ability to work flexible shifts and work up to a (12) hour shift.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- 3-4 years of technical skill; in manufacturing is a plus
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
- Good communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Must pass the required Ramsey testing
