Under general direction of the Recreation Superintendent, plans, organizes, manages and evaluates assigned recreation operation, programs, facilities, services and personnel. Ensures the effective delivery of high-quality, safe, accessible, and customer-focused recreation services consistent with departmental goals, City policies, and community needs.Applicants must submit a cover letter and resume.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Directs the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities.
Manages personnel, equipment, facilities and finances assigned to the department; including hiring, ensuring training for, reviewing performance, scheduling of work, disciplinary action and dismissing staff members.
Identifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identifies resource needs; reviews with appropriate staff; implements improvements.
Develops and reviews the work plan for aquatics program services and activities; assigns work activities and projects; monitors workflow.
Ensures proper hiring and training of pool lifeguards and instructors; coordinates or conducts first aid and C.P.R. courses; instructs employees in aquatic emergency operations; conducts regular patrol of aquatic areas.
Participates in the preparation and administration of the aquatics program budget; submits budget recommendations; monitors expenditures.
Verifies time worked by staff; submits timesheets for payroll.
Assists in preparation of monthly financial and program participation reports and others as assigned.
Monitors the safe enforcement of pool rules and regulations by the pool staff and patrons; develops Emergency Action Plans; implements plans as required.
Maintains and prepares purchase orders for class supplies.
Responds to and resolves customer complaints, questions and suggestions related to aquatic programs, activities, services and special events.
Plans, coordinates and assists with production of special events and recreational programs.
Assists assigned staff with administrative and program operational duties in the daily operation and management of aquatics programs.
Communicates with and promotes aquatic facilities and programs to local swim teams, rental groups, and to individuals or organizations who might be interested in having private birthday parties, swim meets or other activities at the facilities.
Ensures the mechanical operations and daily/seasonal maintenance of the aquatic’s facilities; maintains correct water quality and chemical balance ensuring that all pools are properly maintained and up to federal, state, and local codes.
Markets, promotes and coordinate all aspects of all aquatic’s programming/events offered by the Parks and Recreation Department.
Ensures that status reports on safety activities and progress are completed and documented in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, training and Experience Guidelines
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Recreation, Leisure Studies or related field. Five (5) years of full-time experience developing and implementing aquatic programs. Two (2) years of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity. OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge of:
Aquatic and recreational activities and programming and their current rules, regulations and procedures.
The planning, administration and operation of aquatic and recreational programs and facilities.
Methods, tools and equipment used in water safety and medical aid operations.
Modern and complex principles and practices of pool facility
