We currently have an exciting opportunity as a Senior Project Manager / Lead Engineer. This is a great opportunity to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting office, pursuing and managing various water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This position can be located out of our Milwaukee or Middleton, WI offices.
Detailed Description:
In this role, you will work closely with our Municipal Design Teams, Design Services Team, and Client Services Managers to pursue and win various water, water resources, and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will lead project team members to execute work involving the planning, design, and construction administration for infrastructure projects. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage and execute work for water distribution, water treatment, water resources, wastewater collection and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Manage all phases of project delivery including planning, design, and construction.
- Effectively manage project resources to meet or exceed scope, schedule, and budget expectations.
- Apply engineering analyses and calculations to support design decisions.
- Lead multi-disciplinary design teams, providing overall project management and design coordination.
- Interface directly with clients to understand and meet project needs and expectations.
- Prepare technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, permits, contract documents, and other deliverables.
- Guide submittal reviews, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, pay applications, and change orders for construction projects.
- Develop and execute effective quality assurance and quality control programs.
- Apply experience and technical expertise in problem solving and decision making, resulting in the best solutions for our clients.
- Effectively communicate to technical and non-technical audiences through client presentations and public meetings.
- Provide coaching and mentoring of junior staff.
- Utilize internal project management tools and resources.
- Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve design production and efficiency.
- Lead business development pursuits related to water, water resources, and wastewater opportunities
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field required
- M.S. degree in related engineering field with a focus on wastewater and water treatment facilities, preferred but not required
- PE in Wisconsin or ability to obtain one within 6 months
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in municipal water and wastewater engineering and consulting required
- Strong understanding of engineering principles related to water/wastewater distribution, conveyance, and treatment
- Design experience in sanitary sewer and/or stormwater treatment and conveyance systems
- Experience successfully managing projects and technical teams
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record is required
- Ability to successfully manage clients and projects in a collaborative fashion and interface with Brown and Caldwell’s local, regional, and national technical staff as well as help mentor junior staff
- Strong Microsoft Office skills required, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Outlook and Project.
- Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD and Civil3D preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI) preferred
- Construction observation experience is a plus
- Ability to travel to sites to conduct site / field visits which may include occasional overnight travel
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Salary $131,000 - $179,000
