TITLE: Associate, Debt Capital Markets Latin America & Caribbean (“DCM”)
 

DUTIES: Scotia Capital (USA) Inc. seeks Associate, Debt Capital Markets Latin America & Caribbean (“DCM”) in New York, NY to champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships in the Debt Capital Markets (DCM) Latin America & Caribbean coverage area and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Collaborate with teams across the bank to provide high-quality solutions and alternatives. Support the team in advising clients on bond financing strategies and executing new issue transactions in the Latin American and the Caribbean debt capital markets. Prepare pitches for clients across countries and industries, adapting material to best reflect the client’s interests and requirements. Compile market data for internal analysis and understanding, allowing a clearer reflection of our strengths and weaknesses. Collect market data for external analysis, to get a better understanding of the market and trends, in order to deepen our understanding of relevant activities that might be of interests to clients. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Pursue effective and efficient operations of his respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Lead weekly client update calls to guide all relevant parties (issuer, banks, counsel, auditors) through the issuance process in order to reach the objectives. Help in the training of new Analysts and interns that join the bank in order to help them get up to speed and develop as young professionals. Accompany and lead road show calls with clients in order to assist them in their discussions with potential investors ahead of a bond offering.
 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: working with debt capital markets and economics on assisting clients in accessing the international capital markets through bond issuances; analyzing LatAm markets and industries to better understand trends and their impact on debt issuers in order to advise clients to meet their financing needs; utilizing finance software including Capital IQ and Bloomberg; advising and communicating with clients on market reads and deal execution processes. Telecommuting and / or working from home is permissible. 25% travel required nationally and internationally. Spanish proficiency required. FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 79 and Series 63 certifications required.
