Job Summary
First in line to greet, instruct, direct and assist patients and visitors. Incorporates a positive team approach to service as a liaison between patients and radiology staff. Familiar with all aspects of the office operations including PACS, CD burning and Meditech computer software. Must function in a fast paced environment by multitasking, answering telephones, retrieving and filing patient medical records, scheduling transcription and handling intakes of unscheduled and E.R. patients, key public relations position dealing with patients concerns and complaints.
Job Responsibilities
Answers and directs phone calls.
Announces patient arrival; provides gowning instructions.
Assists patients with directions and phone calls.
Advises staff of schedule changes.
Prepares images for sending to other facilities.
Calls and faxes Imaging reports to physicians.
Prepares consent forms for signature.
Edit and cancel exams.
Train new staff.
Call facilities for both in or out of network to send images for comparison.
Collects incoming mail and distributes.
Assist providers.
Call film room regarding inpatient STAT Imaging and surgery case information.
Burn CD's.
Access studies in PACS system for verification purposes.
Pro-actively works to identify and resolve patient concerns.
Maintains patient confidentiality in all aspects of duties.
Provide superior customer service by consistently following through to ensure patient satisfaction.
Maintains a neat appearance of work area, waiting area and conducts light housekeeping as needed.
Meets appropriate deadlines.
Displays competency for the Secretary/Receptionist role as evidenced in the annual performance appraisal following the FHN PRIDE Standards.
Other duties may be assigned.
Communicates issues directly when necessary with patients, film room, transcription and Imaging department. Collaboratively develops and follows policies as they relate to Imaging Services. Maintains confidentiality to all patient information.
Qualifications
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience: Typing, computer skills and medical terminology. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to handle multiple task in a fast paced environment, must be flexible to the scheduling of work hours and teamwork orientation.
