Job Description Summary

The research of Yun Ding’s lies at the intersection of neurobiology, behavior, and evolution, using fruit fly species as the model system. The primary function of the position is to support and facilitate lab projects on behavioral genetics. This involves performing fruit fly crosses and perform behavioral assays and quantitative measurement. The ideal candidate for this position will have experiences in behavioral analysis and fruit fly genetics. Background in molecular experiments and immunochemistry is a plus but is not required. The research specialist will be asked to collect and prepare data for further analysis, and on occasion may have the opportunity to present findings during lab meetings. This position may assist with conducting various research procedures and will be responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of lab resources as needed. It is expected that the candidate will have a strong work ethic and be willing to engage with the project intellectually.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts basic lab experiments and clinical studies for product or material formulation and development.

  • Drive a research project (collect, analyze and interpret data, and present data at group meetings)

  • Help in the general running of the lab, including ordering, receiving items, and maintaining lab organization

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

  • Prior experience working in a laboratory setting

  • Good organizational skills

  • Ability to work with teammates
