The Opportunity
This position works out of our North Chicago, IL (Lake County) location in the Core Diagnostics Division. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.
What You’ll Work On
Under direct supervision, this new team member will follow established procedures and guidelines to receive, handle, store, record, and dispatch goods in a store or warehouse.
Receive incoming goods, check for damage and for discrepancies between goods and invoices.
Pick order, pack, receive, and dispatch outgoing goods according to written or verbal requests or orders.
Ensure proper routing of materials is maintained while transporting the materials between departments.
Enter data into a database or other computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock and inventory records.
Retrieve stored information to respond to inquiries (for example on stock transfer, inventory levels or delivery schedules).
Perform other routine clerical activities according to the organization’s established procedures.
These activities may include updating stock cards and inventory records, and completing receipt, transfer, delivery, and dispatch forms.
Utilization of forklifts and various other material handling equipment to unload/load trailers and move product throughout the warehouse.
Warehouse working conditions vary from -20C freezer,2C to 8C cooler and 15C to 30C.
High bay area requires stocking and picking in equipment that reaches 40' in height.
Day Shift: Hours are 8:00 am – 5:30 pm Monday’s – Wednesday’s, 10:00 am – 5:30 pm Thursday’s, and 11:00 am – 5:30 pm on Friday’s.
Mandatory overtime on one to two Saturdays per month from 7:00 am – 11:00 am.
Required Qualifications
High School degree or GED
Preferred Qualifications
Incumbent must be able to perform basic math; read; understand and make decisions based upon written operating procedures
Must have good hand eye coordination and general math and reasoning skills.
Basic computer knowledge for data input and making decisions related to inventory part, lot, and quantity.
Previous forklift experience and the ability to meet Abbott requirements for obtaining forklift certification.
Experience working in a dynamic environment with frequent changes to priorities.
