IT Concepts is looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer to support our Intelligence Community customer.

This position is Hybrid with on-site at JBAB, DC or Reston, VA. PM and customer determine schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Gathering and evaluating user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and engineers
  • Illustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Designing graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
  • Turn our software into easy-to-use products for our clients.
  • Gathering user requirements, designing graphic elements and building navigation components.
  • Create both functional and appealing features that address our clients’ needs and help us grow our customer base.
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
  • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
  • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
  • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images
  • Stay up to date with trends and best practices in UX/UI design methodologies and incorporating them into the product development process
  • Stay up to date with accessibility standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, to ensure that the product meets the necessary accessibility standards

What you will be doing:

  • Will use modern, frontend web development tools, techniques and methods for maintaining and creating new features of web application.
  • Will work with customer in weekly meetings to determine requirements
  • Conduct user research to understand the needs and behavior of the target audience. This includes tasks such as user/stakeholder interviews, surveys, service blueprints, journey mapping, and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data to identify patterns, themes and trends.
  • Communicate research findings and recommendations to key stakeholders through reports, presentations, and other means of visual storytelling.
  • Plan and facilitate Human Centered Design brainstorming sessions and design sprints to generate new ideas and solutions for products.
  • Design wireframes to plan the layout and functionality of the user interface, using tools such as Sketch, XD, or Figma.
  • Produce interactive prototypes to test and refine the user interface and user experience.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure that the design can be implemented effectively and efficiently.
  • Plann and conduct usability testing to validate the design, discover user pain points, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Create visual designs including color schemes, typography, marketing materials, and iconography, that align with the brand and appeal to the target audience.
  • Created design guidelines to ensure consistency and coherence across different parts of the product and for future iterations.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure that the product is implemented in a way that meets the accessibility guidelines and that accessibility features are built into the product from the ground up.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline (or option for more years' experience)
  • 5+ years direct experience in product development
  • Experience with design software and wireframe tools
  • Good understanding of Human Computer Interface (HCI) principles and Visual information fundamentals.
  • Experience as lead developer, using open-source software to prototype and deploy backend web applications including all aspects of server-side processing, data storage, integration with frontend development.
  • Experience developing and consuming web based, RESTful APIs, ensuring Section 508 compliance.
  • Experience using agile methodologies.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements and user needs into modern web interfaces that are dynamic, responsive and engaging.
