Shell has created several new career opportunities within our newest state of the art Shell Polymers facility in Monaca, Pennsylvania, and we are seeking your expertise to further build on our Polyethylene capabilities within our team.
One of the newly created opportunities is Polyethylene Engineer - Solids Handling (also known as Polyethylene Production Support Engineer - Solids Handling internally), which will provide you with an opportunity to growth.
This role focuses on ensuring that process equipment operates safely, complies with regulations, remains reliable, and is optimized to produce high-quality products in line with the Production Plan. Responsibilities include initiating and supporting facility improvements, such as maintenance, turnarounds, and projects. This team member will also influence the work practices of production and support staff and serve as a key interface between various engineering and technology disciplines, production, and maintenance to ensure the unit receives the necessary support.

More about our Facility:
In 2022, Shell completed construction of its 386-acre petrochemical complex in Potter Township, Beaver County – approximately 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The project spanned nearly a decade in the making, with more than four years of construction activity involving approximately 9,500 workers at peak construction.
The plant, Shell Polymers Monaca, will produce an estimated 1.6 million tons of polyethylene pellets used by Shell’s customers to create products that we see and use every day including – common household goods; consumer and food packaging; as well as industrial and utility products. Three polyethylene units will have a combined annual production of approximately 1.6 million metric tons (3.5 billion pounds).

Accountabilities:
Develop and optimize reliability centered maintenance plans
Assist maintenance and production troubleshoot and develop repair plans for equipment
Develop project scopes for equipment, system upgrades, major maintenance, and turnaround work scopes
Act as a lead to support root cause analysis of system and equipment failures, while identifying threats and deficiencies within the production unit
Act as a lead in managing and supporting the management of change (MOC)
Respond to calls outside normal working hours to assist during emergencies or heightened situations
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, specializing in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Solids Handling, or Mechatronics
Minimum of 5 years in Polyethylene or polymers finishing
Demonstrated experience in risk management
Knowledge in planning, scheduling, and resource management is required
Experience with design, operation, troubleshooting and repair of process equipment such as pumps, piping, valving is required
