Licensed Practical Nurse

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) has duties and responsibilities related to consumer/patient/person served care within the Psychiatric Services provided by the agency. The individual displays responsible behaviors,communicates effectively to others and functions as a member of the psychiatric healthcare team. The CMA functions under the direct supervision and authority of the Physician/Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant when performing clinical tasks during patient care. The CMA reports to the Regional Director/Program Coordinator, who is responsible for administrative supervision, staff development, and orientation of the CMA to PRIDEIN NORTH CAROLINA, INC. policies and procedures. The CMA maintains an inventory of examination/procedure room supplies, assists in the organization of efficient patient flow, and organizes the clinic environment to assure consumer safety. The CMA demonstrates problemsolving skills as they relate to consumer care activities, provides guidance for and acts as a role model for Medical Assistants in the clinical area. Persons employed in these positions must be knowledgeable of the populations they are serving, must be able to plan and engage in activities, provide supportive counseling, and
crisis management.

As a vital member of our clinical support team, the CMA will:

• Manage prior authorizations and medication refill requests

• Communicate with insurance companies, addressing denials and non-preferred medication issues

• Serve as an administrative liaison between patients, prescribers, and insurers

Experience/Education Requirements: 

Persons in this position are required, at a minimum High school diploma or GED, and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, such as courses provided through Medix, community colleges, and/or vocational schools.

Must have current certification in CPR. Certification as a Medical Assistant by an approved national examination agency. Requires successful interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members in order to foster optimal quality of outpatient care.

*This position will primarly be performed remotely, with occasional on-site work in the Wilmington, NC office*
