Hankey Capital seeks a Senior Vice President to join the growing team. Hankey Capital, a privately held direct lender with $1.7 billion in senior liens held on balance sheet, focuses on providing senior bridge loans on commercial real estate in the metro and coastal submarkets of California and south Florida.
The bridge lending platform lends on all major property types in various stages of “value-add” providing candidates a unique opportunity to directly witness best practices from developers across a wide spectrum of real estate projects in multiple markets all over the state of California. As opposed to conventional lenders servicing stabilized cash flowing properties, Hankey Capital focuses on lending during transitional stages of a property’s evolution including lending on land entitlements, value-add hotels, apartments and senior/assisted living as well as the repositioning of office, retail, and industrial properties. With a focus on urban and coastal submarkets of California and south Florida, Hankey Capital prides itself as a private bank for best-in-class family developers throughout the regions.

Salary Range: $150,000-$165,000 per year. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, and education.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do as a Senior Vice President?
- With an initial focus on asset management / process management, the Senior VP will be expected to touch all workflow processes of the platform from originations to closing to servicing to special servicing and REO management.
- Lead the further development of the in-house proprietary enterprise software system that is currently under development to better manage the loan portfolio, workflows and better equip the lending platform to continue scaling up and growing
- Directly manage delinquent loans including corresponding with foreclosure title company on notice of defaults, notice of sales, outside counsel in BK situations as well as foreclosures.
- Work in conjunction with in-house counsel to document new loans including ones with co-lenders that require co-lending agreements, intercreditor agreements, subordination agreements, recognition agreements, etc.
- Directly manage real estate owned by the firm as a result of foreclosures by developing a prudent short term and long-term business plan for the asset with the goal to maximize or exceed investment recovery with time value of money in mind
- Implement best practices in the how loans are documented, tracked, serviced, and special serviced.
- Implement best practices in closing diligence processes and checks and balances
- Lead asset management and loan servicing tasks while acting as a liaison between the originations, legal, servicing, and accounting teams
- Work with underwriting team to better standardize underwriting excel templates as well as better incorporate underwriting work flows into the ‘Hub’
- Work with underwriting team to better evaluate inbound bridge loan opportunities by focusing on evaluating (1) strength of the asset’s location within the submarket (2) borrower’s business plan to add value and position asset for a refinance exit and (3) borrower’s track record and overall creditworthiness.
- Work with underwriting team to research, analyze, and develop strategies for originations outreach including identifying future lending opportunities such as tranches of maturing debt in the horizon as well as identifying potential new borrowers
- Monitor and track commercial real estate capital market activities in order to better inform the originations team on the pulse of the marketplace
- Assist in promoting the platform to the marketplace including digital, social and print media initiatives
- Assist in loan portfolio management including analyzing high level portfolio metrics and improve management efficiencies
- Undertake ad hoc initiatives and projects on behalf the President of the firm
- Candidates will be expected to work 5 days a week in an office environment putting in 45+ hours per week
