TITLE:                                 Software Development Engineering - Advisor

EMPLOYER:                               Fiserv Solutions, LLC

LOCATION:                                 600 N. Vel R. Phillips Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53203 (and various unanticipated locations throughout the US subject to authorization from management)

DUTIES:                                      Conduct software development, create and analyze metrics, and provide technical solutions to implement monitoring capabilities and drive infrastructure enhancements. Create virtualization machine metrics to support the application’s standard parameters for the production environment. Gather and analyze metrics from operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding. Collaborate with development and cloud engineers as well as product and infrastructure teams to gather requirements, understand technical solutions, and implement monitoring capabilities outlined in the application and system monitoring designs. Evolve observability and resilience solutions. Build required tools, monitoring, and automation to proactively detect and self-heal production anomalies. On-board new application services and functionalities for agile releases. Drive infrastructure and upgrade projects throughout the life cycle including onboarding new application service providers, establishing production support procedure, and conducting training sessions and demonstrations. Engage as a subject matter expert (SME) in major incident triage efforts and failure scenario modelling, including working with problem managers to diagnose root causes for major incidents and conduct problem management investigations. Analyze, detect and mitigate ATO cyber-attacks on customer-facing applications. Identify vulnerabilities and opportunities for reliability improvement to define solutions that reduce manual support effort and improve system reliability. Develop and maintain a catalog of extensible reliability scripts, tools, and libraries to leverage for common instrumentation, automation, and operational needs. Mentor SRE resources on reliability practices and established tools and capabilities.

REQUIREMENTS:                     Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field and 7 years in any job title involving site reliability engineering and production operations experience. Prior experience must include: 5 years completing structured and OOP programming using at least one of the following: Java, C#, Asp.Net, Python, Bash, Shell, and JavaScript; 5 years working in Infrastructure as Code using Cloud Formation or Terraform; 5 years working in IP networking, firewalls, DNS, load balancing, and CDNs; 5 years working with GitLab, JIRA, MySQL, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Apache HTTP Server, Linux, IAM, WAF, VPC, EC2, Route53, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Red Hat OpenShift; 5 years working with CI/CD tools including Jenkins and GitHub; 5 years building continuous integration pipelines; 3 years developing and implementing effective monitoring on Splunk and Dynatrace; and Monitor and maintain Java Spring Boot APIs, Web apps, and Web Services in production.
