GL Accountant, Regional GL Accounting

<p><br/><b><span>Job Description:</span></b></p>Job Description<p>The GL Accountant will work within a team that is responsible for US GAAP accounting and reporting of specific assigned processes, transactions and operations.  In addition, the GL accounting team will be responsible for compliance and implementation of internal control policies and procedures.  The position is based in Prague and reports to the GL Accounting Team Lead.</p><p></p><p></p><ul><li><p>Perform various activities within the Record-to-Report processes in line with US GAAP, corporate policies and guidance. Work and assure GL activities within following processes (or some of these) – the main activities and processes comprise: Journals Processing, Fixes Assets accounting, Intercompany activities, Operating costs /Prepayments accounting, Sales and Deferrals accounting, Inventory/Cost of Goods sold accounting, Benefits and Compensations accounting. </p></li><li><p>Ensure accurate and timely month-end processing of journals, reporting and ensure all corporate deadlines are met.</p></li><li><p>Understand the balance sheet &amp; income statement impacts of every transaction to challenge or propose accounting adjustment entries, when relevant.</p></li><li><p>Gather and coordinate all necessary supporting documentation for journals (e.g. accruals, deferrals, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany, etc.) and adherence to process.</p></li><li><p>Support the preparation of Balance Sheet and the monthly review and analyses.</p></li><li><p>Ensure the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations are performed timely.</p></li><li><p>Ensure performance of internal controls, including SOX compliance.</p></li><li><p>Ensure all internal policies and procedures are consistently followed.</p></li><li><p>Support local reporting requirements with processing of required journals, reports and analysis.</p></li><li><p>Support audits (internal &amp; external) including coordination of client deliverables. </p></li><li><p>Key user/owner for specific finance systems and processes including maintenance of respective approval matrix, training and support of department users and documentation.</p></li><li><p>Ensure accounting documentation (Guidelines, Manuals) are complete and up-to-date.</p></li><li><p>Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the GL Accounting Team.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><br/><i>This Job is also suitable for persons with disabilities; attendance required – disabled-accessible building.</i></p><p></p><p>#LI-PG1</p><p></p><p><b><span>Job Requirements:</span></b></p><ul><li><p>1-2 years’ experience, multinational corporation or global accounting firm, Big 4 preferred.</p></li><li><p>Strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of successful collaboration with team members and stakeholders.</p></li><li><p>Excellent technical financial skills. Ability to understand the balance sheet &amp; income statement impacts of every transaction and to challenge or propose material accounting judgment entries, when relevant.</p></li><li><p>Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles and processes.</p></li><li><p>Process oriented mind set and continuous improvement experience.</p></li><li><p>Record to Report knowledge and experience.</p></li><li><p>SAP R3, Oracle, HFM knowledge is an advantage.</p></li><li><p>US-GAAP and SOX experience</p></li><li><p>Higher degree in business administration or equivalent finance specific degree</p></li><li><p>Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is required.
