Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Project Accountant to sit anywhere in the regional location of Virginia Beach, VA. This role provides general accounting support, with a focus on maintaining invoice and expense compliance, reconciliations with cost-reimbursable projects, and cost allowability/allocability. Duties and tasks reflect variety and complexity. Familiar with the concepts and principles of project revenue and cost.
- Applies advanced skills to the position with limited supervision.
- Applies financial terminology, measures, financial data analysis concepts and principles in assignments.
- Recognizes processes/project actions that may lead to project financial impact.
- Serves as part of a team, sometimes driving projects and following up with others for status on open action items.
- Must be flexible to adapt to changes in work processes and/or work assignments.
- Evaluates and streamline financial workflows for maximum efficiency.
- Acts responsibly and ethically when working with sensitive financial information, whether it is information for the company or for individuals.
- Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Position Description
- Review contract terms and backup documentation for cost allowability.
- Review and process expense reports and vendor invoices for cost compliance
- Track Accounts Receivable and Follow up when necessary.
- Process and verify project set ups.
- Process project estimates at complete
- Support analysis of project costs and variances
- Manage Indirect Rate Adjustment calculation.
- Track, invoice, monitor, and report indirect rate adjustments monthly
- Coordinate with PMs on Labor Assignments for project set-ups
- Administer weekly inspections on labor rates.
- Assist with monthly invoicing process.
- Monitor monthly financial requirements for projects.
- Assists in assembling data for trending and forecasting.
- Actively assess and verify financial accuracy across multiple financial systems.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance & Accounting and 2 years of relevant professional experience in Billing, General Accounting, or Project Accounting or relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
