Staff Software Engineer (Compliance & Recruiting) - Remote

We are seeking a Staff (Full Stack) Software Engineer to join our Compliance & Recruiting product team, which powers eligibility, recruiting, documentation, camps, and operational processes for athletic departments. Our product helps ensure programs stay aligned with NCAA, conference, and institutional requirements—removing friction for staff and student-athletes alike.

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll lead complex engineering initiatives across the stack, mentor engineers, and shape the technical evolution of our platform. You’ll play a key role in modernizing systems toward a cloud-native architecture and help set standards for how we scale the product, improve performance, and support new user needs.

Game Plan - How You'll Drive Impact:

• Lead the design and implementation of core systems that support high-volume compliance workflows like eligibility audits and recruiting documentation.
• Drive architectural modernization initiatives across the full stack—including backend (Java 17, Spring Boot, Hibernate, PostgreSQL), frontend (Angular 19), and infrastructure (AWS).
• Define and uphold engineering best practices and coding standards across the Compliance team.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering leadership to scope and deliver large, complex features.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and technical debt.
• Serve as a technical mentor, guiding other engineers through design decisions, debugging, and system design.
• Contribute to planning and roadmap development by bringing engineering context into product strategy discussions.

Player Profile - What You Bring to the Team:

• Expertise in Java (we use Java 17) and backend frameworks such as Spring Boot or Quarkus, including deep experience with Hibernate.
• Fluency with build tools like Maven or Gradle and managing complex build systems.
• Advanced front-end development experience with modern frameworks, particularly Angular (we use Angular 19), but React or Vue is also valuable.
• Strong experience designing and maintaining APIs (REST and/or GraphQL).
• Expert-level understanding of relational databases and SQL query optimization, schema design, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, and Lambda.
• Deep knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols, including OAuth2, SAML, and OIDC.
• Commitment to robust automated testing at all levels (unit, integration, e2e, performance).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), Git, and agile planning tools like Linear.
• Comfort managing observability with tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
