This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change. 

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Senior Battery Test Engineer for John Deere Power Systems located in Morrisville, NC, you will….

 

  • Define and coordinate test procedures and analysis plans for lithium-ion battery product verification and validation
  • Prepare product test reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
  • Participate in battery development projects to drive technology advancements
  • Coordinate testing with battery testing equipment such as cyclers, thermal chambers, sensors, and data acquisition units
  • Define and perform testing with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) equipment to verify and validate the performance of battery management systems (BMS)

What Skills You Need

 

  • 5 or more years’ experience in product development
  • 4 or more years’ experience in testing electronics components
  • 2 or more years' experience using a HIL tester
  • 2 or more years’ experience in working with external test agencies
  • 4 or more years’ experience using communications tools such as CAN

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Understanding of lithium-ion battery technology and test methodologies and procedures
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, and field support of energy storage systems (Lithium-Ion Batteries) including diagnosing and troubleshooting battery system failures.
  • Experience with the operation of battery test equipment including cyclers and thermal chambers
  • Demonstrated communication and project leadership skills
  • Experience working with globally diverse teams
  • Self-starter that is well organized, disciplined, team player and well versed in electric vehicle systems, statistics and data management
  • Experience with data acquisition and processing tools
  • Experience with construction, agricultural, and turf vehicle engineering

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline with experience
