Chief Financial Officer Role Overview :
We are seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the financial, human resources, and information technology functions across a multi-state solar panel installation business. This role is critical in driving the company’s strategic financial initiatives, including forecasting, cash flow management, funding strategies, M&A integration, and scalable systems development. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in solar or home services, a background in financial and operational leadership, and a strong track record of supporting company growth through disciplined execution and planning.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the company’s overall financial strategy, including capital planning, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Oversee all financial operations across multiple business units and states, including financial reporting, budgeting, and audit readiness.
  • Manage corporate cash flow, financial modeling, and margin performance for residential and dealer-based solar operations.
  • Direct the financial analysis and structuring of future acquisitions, including due diligence and post-merger integration.
  • Supervise the Human Resources and Information Technology functions, ensuring scalability of internal systems and talent management.
  • Partner with the CEO and board to evaluate business performance and develop strategic growth plans.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards, solar industry financial reporting requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Oversee financial risk assessments, insurance coverage, and business continuity planning.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of enterprise-level financial systems and internal controls.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to align finance, operations, HR, and technology objectives.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) required.
    • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution strongly preferred.
  • Required Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership, including CFO or senior finance executive roles in solar, energy, or home services industries.
    • Proven experience managing financial operations across multi-state or multi-unit businesses.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-departmental teams (Finance, HR, IT) in high-growth environments.
    • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, including financial structuring and integration.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in enterprise financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Enterprise, SAP).
    • Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities.
    • Deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and investor reporting standards.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team development abilities.
    • Strategic mindset with hands-on execution skills.
    • High level of financial integrity and judgment.
    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
