Position Summary:
Responsible for the leadership and daily direction of the maintenance and reliability team for repairs and maintenance of buildings, plant equipment, and manufacturing equipment; schedules, as well as preventative and predictive maintenance. Assists in the development of safety programs and drives asset availability through reliability improvements across the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising and leading all maintenance processes and operations through condition-based monitoring and predictive programs.
- Schedules planned maintenance activities, including preventative and predictive maintenance, major equipment overhauls, and facility and site improvements to reduce equipment failure and downtime.
- Directs computerized maintenance systems to ensure data acquisition and equipment histories are accurate and complete.
- Oversees and guides the sanitation department with areas of focus around Master Sanitation Schedules and housekeeping of the facility.
- Supervises, trains, and develops department staff to enhance the quantity and quality of employee work.
- Develops career path opportunities for the employees across the maintenance department to aid in professional growth and development that enables both employee engagement and company growth.
- Partners with Value Stream Manager and Safety Team in the development of a comprehensive safety program and maintains safety work order records to ensure a safe working environment.
- Recommends, processes, and approves equipment improvements and supervises the installation of engineering controls and equipment updates.
- Identifies process improvements and establishes standard practices and processes for the maintenance department, as well as support processes across cross-functional departments.
- Assists in developing a comprehensive departmental budget to ensure the department stays within budgetary guidelines and monitors spending against the budget to ensure we hit the budgetary targets.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- Requires one to two years of college or eight to ten years of maintenance/technical experience
Experience:
- Requires five to eight years of experience in the food or CPG industry in a maintenance/technical role.
- Requires six years or more of supervision of maintenance, technical, and/or reliability staff in a manufacturing environment.
- Requires background knowledge of facilities management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to be on call and respond 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires the ability to stand; sit at a desk; walk around the office, and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity, and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting to inspect equipment.
Environment:
- The environment for this position varies from clean, climate-controlled offices to manufacturing and warehouse areas.
- Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise.
- The work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.
Safety:
- The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- The incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility for up to 15 employees.
