Salary Range:
$122,000.00 - $158,000.00What’s the role?
As a Business Development Analyst, you will help accelerate Etsy’s growth through strategic advisory, partnerships, and acquisitions. You’ll play a key role in identifying how emerging business models and technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, can strengthen Etsy’s competitive edge and long-term strategy.
This is a high-impact, “utility player” role where you’ll balance traditional corporate and business development work with a strong strategic and competitive lens.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Vice President, Corporate and Business Development. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.
This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. This team sits at the intersection of strategy, partnerships, and M&A, shaping how Etsy grows over the long term. You'll work closely with product, engineering, legal, finance, and marketing to evaluate and execute opportunities, operating with a high degree of autonomy and analytical rigor. The team stays closely attuned to industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies, including AI, and brings genuine curiosity to all of it.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Identify, size, and evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and acquisitions that drive growth and innovation for Etsy’s marketplace
Analyze competitor performance, industry trends, and emerging technologies (including AI) to inform strategic decision-making
Build and maintain a repository of competitive intelligence, including company metrics, financials, and key developments
Develop financial models to support partnership and M&A evaluation, including inbound opportunities
Conduct ad hoc strategic analyses such as market sizing, business case development, and build/buy/partner assessments
Partner with product teams to evaluate and execute integrations, including understanding APIs, data feeds, and AI/LLM capabilities
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including product, legal, and marketing, as well as external partners

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
4+ years of experience in business development, corporate development, strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or consulting, ideally within a technology or consumer internet context
Strong understanding of the ecommerce, consumer internet, and/or AI landscape, with the ability to apply market insights to strategic decisions
Proven ability to use data to support recommendations, including building financial models when needed
Experience managing projects across cross-functional teams
Ability to bridge busin
