About the Role

At WGU, we're committed to helping students achieve their educational goals through exceptional service, operational excellence, and financial stewardship. As an Accounting Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting student success by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with tuition and payment programs, and providing outstanding support to students and internal partners.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain accounting databases and ensure financial records, documents, and reports are accurate and up to date.

  • Support the preparation of financial statements, summaries, and other accounting-related reports.

  • Reconcile various financial records and identify discrepancies for timely resolution.

  • Assist with month-end reporting activities and accounting processes as needed.

  • Monitor student accounts associated with payment plans, scholarships, and other non-standard payment arrangements.

  • Partner with students, vendors, and internal departments to resolve billing, payment, and accounts receivable inquiries.

  • Support student retention and graduation goals through proactive outreach and inbound telephone support while ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience using bookkeeping programs, accounting software, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • High degree of accuracy in data entry, record keeping, and financial reporting.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a customer-focused approach.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and trustworthiness when handling sensitive financial information.

Bonus Points

  • Experience supporting accounts receivable, student billing, or tuition management programs.

  • Experience reconciling financial records and preparing accounting reports.

  • Experience working in higher education or a student-focused environment.

Experience in Lieu of Education
