About the role

The University of South Florida Athletics Department seeks an Events Coordinator to serve as a primary game and event management contact for multiple intercollegiate athletic programs and sporting events. Reporting directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Event Management, this position plays an important role in coordinating and executing successful athletic contests and events.

The position is responsible for coordinating event setup and breakdown, managing event-day logistics, and supporting the overall execution of assigned intercollegiate athletic contests. Additionally, this role assists with occasional third-party special events and facility rentals, ensuring events are organized, efficient, and provide a positive experience for student-athletes, staff, and guests.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead Event Operations: Plan and execute assigned intercollegiate athletic contests, including event timelines, setup and breakdown, game officials, event staff, and law enforcement coordination. 
  • Serve as Event Operations Lead: Act as the primary event operations contact multiple athletic programs and provide secondary support as needed. 
  • Support Facilities Operations: Conduct routine facility checks and coordinate the resolution of maintenance, cleanliness, and operational issues. 
  • Support Capital Projects & Event Management: Assist with meeting coordination, project organization, work order management, and tracking. 
  • Manage Athletics Golf Cart Fleet: Oversee fleet scheduling, maintenance, and repair coordination with Campus Fleet Services.
  • Support Football Gamedays: Assist with all South Florida Football home games, oversee assigned gameday areas, and provide responsive support to fans and guests. 
  • Perform Other Duties: Support additional projects, events, and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • One year of experience in athletic facilities, event management, or a related field; relevant internship experience may be considered. 
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, vendors, and other stakeholders. 
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs. 
  •  Proficiency with standard computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and social media. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and athletic events. 
  • Working knowledge of NCAA and American Conference rules and regulations.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Sport Management, Business Administration, Hospitality, Event Management, or a related field. 
  • Experience in collegiate athletics, event management, or athletic operations.

(c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
