As a Sales Coach at Axon, you'll be a strategic force multiplier—raising the bar across our Public Sector and Adjacent Markets teams. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role focused on deal execution, leadership enablement, and elevating sales rigor.
You’ll lead high-stakes deal strategy sessions, embed in the field to deliver real-time coaching, and partner closely with front-line managers to embed scalable, repeatable sales motion. You’ll also shape key learning moments at internal sales conferences and be instrumental in codifying Axon’s sales methodology through playbooks and development programs.
This role is ideal for a strategic operator who has seen scale, thrives in fast-moving environments, and is passionate about sharpening the next generation of sales representatives and leaders.
What You’ll Do
Location: Scottsdale or Boston office 3-5 days a week, and on the road up to 20% of the time
Reports to: Executive Vice President of Sales
Direct Reports: None
- Coach on Sales Execution: Support reps and managers on strategic deals—offering coaching grounded in pipeline discipline, customer insights, and value-based selling.
- Run Strategic War Rooms: Facilitate cross-functional sessions to align on deal strategy, resource allocation, and win plans for top opportunities.
- Field Coaching & Ride-Alongs: Travel regularly with sales reps and managers to observe live customer interactions and provide high-impact, in-the-moment feedback.
- Manager Enablement: Build feedback loops and coaching cadences with sales managers to support frontline team development and accountability.
- Create & Scale Playbooks: Build best-in-class sales playbooks tailored to Axon’s GTM model—anchored in data, customer value, and high-performance behaviors.
- Training Design & Delivery: Partner with Sales Ops, Enablement, and L&D to drive onboarding, role-based development paths, and ongoing capability building.
- Sales Conference Leadership: Own the strategy and execution of training and content for key sales events (e.g., Sales Kickoff in Jan, Sales Summit mid-year)—driving alignment and motivation.
- Sales Culture Champion: Embody and reinforce Axon’s values, especially during times of change, growth, and GTM evolution.
- Performance Insight & Reporting: Track coaching engagement, adoption of methodology, and performance lift across the org to drive continuous improvement and report impact to leadership.
What You Bring
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field is beneficial, but significant relevant experience in sales leadership or coaching is paramount. We value practical skills and proven job performance in high-stakes sales environments.
- Minimum Years of Experience: 10+ years of sales experience, with 5+ years in frontline sales leadership or high-impact coaching roles (Sales Director, RVP, Enablement Leader). Deep familiarity with value-based selling, strategic pipeline planning, and driving complex deals from discovery through procurement.
- Technical and Analytical Skills: Strong command of Salesforce, pipeline metrics, forecasting, and tools like Clari and Groove.
