Sr Core Design & Analysis Engineer

Job Summary

The Core Design & Analysis Engineer is responsible for implementing core reload change packages and monitoring core operation for the Salem nuclear units. Reload responsibilities span the design of the new fuel assemblies and their integration into reloaded fuel assemblies such that the energy requirements, power distribution requirements, and safety analysis requirements are all satisfied for an operating cycle.

Job Responsibilities

The Core Design & Analysis Engineer is responsible for:

• preparing or reviewing calculations related to core nuclear design, core thermal hydraulic performance, and reload safety analyses
• monitoring core operation
• preparing or reviewing nuclear fuel-related design change packages,
• performing 10 CFR 50.59 Reviews
•  maintaining an awareness of industry technical issues that affect core operation or could be implemented to improve performance
•  dispositioning industry issues applicable to nuclear fuel
• providing Nuclear Fuels inputs to license amendment requests
•  providing multi-cycle analyses to support financial planning
•  maintaining Nuclear Fuels Policies, Programs, Processes, Procedures, and Training and Reference Material
• reviewing maneuver-specific reactivity management plans. 

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

• BS Degree in Nuclear Engineering with 10 years experience performing PWR core design & analysis work.
• 5 years experience using Westinghouse core design & analysis software applications and processes.
• Excellent written & oral communication skills
• Ability to support shift work during plant outages and emergent situations.
• Ability to meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Site Access and access industrial areas of a nuclear power.

• MS Degree in Nuclear Engineering
• Reactor Engineering qualifications and experience
