About the role

This role supports the overall service availability and reliability of Oracle Cloud Strategic Customers. The role will work closely with Oracle Cloud change management and engineering teams to create a framework by which change management drivers increased service availability. The person will engage with multiple engineering teams to better define risk and impact of changes to strategic customers, as well as communicating the risk and impact. The person will also work with strategic customers to bring better awareness of changes the strategic customers are making to avoid overlapping maintenances. The role will also participate in the incident management process during incidents to determine rapidly if an incident was caused by a previous or ongoing change.

The ideal candidate should have an expert level understanding of both cloud platforms as well as expert level knowledge of a key area of infrastructure such as networking on virtualization. The candidate should be extremely comfortable working on process items related to change management and can think outside the box when auditing engineering changes to help determine potential impacts.

  • Create and manage a framework of identifying changes that will potentially cause impact to any service strategic customers are consuming.
  • Communicate the appropriate risk and impact levels to internal and customer teams.
  • Track and report on incidents caused by changes in Oracle Cloud as well as post incident remediation items to avoid recurrences.
  • Should be able to work with minimal supervision when liaising with engineering teams understand both changes being conducted as well as platform service and feature enhancement.
  • Work with leadership both within Oracle Cloud and Strategic Customers to communicate and report on risk, impact and mitigation efforts.
  • Quickly evaluating multiple sources of information and synthesizing into a simple message of risk and impact
  • Create a mechanism by which incident manager and engineers can identify quickly if there are current changes underway or have already been completed that may contribute to, or cause, an ongoing incident.
  • Work with strategic customers and vendors to help align change scheduling better.
  • Advises project/program manager and coordinates with immediate and skip-level leadership. 
  • Collaborates across teams within same org (same VP).  
  • May serve as technical SME in multi-functional activities.  
  • Has technical responsibility for complex project(s), including project requirements, specifications (where applicable), and documentation. 
  • Act as SME for root cause analysis efforts. 
  • May develop scripts to automate non-traditional, complex tasks for business unit.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle.  
  • Provides a broad set of guidance to technical and senior technical members of staff.  
  • Collaborates with vendor engineering and account manager to address current business or operational issues.  
  • May lead the adoption of new vendor hardware.  
  • Active communication with product teams.  
  • Participate in coordinated communication with product teams, networking leadership, and PMO to help assess gaps, solutions and needs.

US: Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
