About the role

 

 SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Lean Manager to partner with group leadership in planning and executing lean strategies, support project teams with 5S, flow construction, and kaizen-based continuous improvement, and capture quantitative improvements for future project pursuits and business strategy. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Create strong partnerships with leaders and workforce to establish trust and gain buy-in for lean approaches 

  • Promote continuous improvement principles and support leaders in improvement events and follow-ups 

  • Measure and ensure visibility of baseline performance and improvements across projects 

  • Develop and implement standards for identifying and responding to abnormal conditions 

  • Champion 5S practices and ensure consistency in policies, plans, and jobsite standards 

  • Advocate for Flow Construction, supporting teams in developing flow schedules and planning approaches 

  • Encourage ongoing brainstorming and implementation of improvements by crews 

  • All other duties as assigned 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering, or related degree OR Equivalent combination of education and technical/field experience demonstrated over multiple years of related work experience 

  • Minimum eight years' construction or manufacturing experience 

  • Minimum six years' experience applying continuous improvement in manufacturing or construction 

  • Current driver’s license 

  • Expert understanding of continuous improvement principles and their application 

  • Excellent reliability and follow-through on commitments 

  • Excellent trainer and facilitator 

  • Strong ability to coach and mentor lean professionals 

  • Ability to influence through relationship building 

  • Proactive self-starter with a growth mindset 

  • Strong sense of curiosity and optimism 

  • Effectively work with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 

  • Active listening and effective communication skills, open to diverse input and feedback

  • Ability to travel up to 75%
