LVMG- Director of Life Enrichment

We are currently seeking a full time Director of Life Enrichment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Coordinate, develop and implement resident-centered activity programs, including community and intergenerational programs.
2. Direct (Oversee, supervise) the program of activities, and assign program leadership to qualified individuals. Ensure residents are encouraged to participate in programs and escorting to/from activities.
3. Inform residents, families, support staff and interdisciplinary team of the current schedule of planned activities via a monthly calendar.  Ensure monthly activity calendar is distributed to residents and posted on designated display boards.
4. Coordinate or oversee coordination of special events by a qualified team member.
5. Direct (Oversee, supervise) the development and display of theme and holiday decorations throughout the facility.
6. Design facility calendars, fliers, posters or newsletters as indicated by the Director.
7. Supervise and protect residents within activity programs.  Ensure a safe environment for all residents, employees and visitors participating in Health Care Center and Diven House activities.
8. Facilitate monthly Resident Council meeting pursuant to facility policies and procedures.  Provide information on pertinent problems or suggestions made by residents at council meeting to department heads via a Plan of Action form.  Refer the Plan of Action forms to the Director of the Health Care Center, or designee, and the Quality Improvement / Staff Development Coordinator.  Ensure that the specific department returns the Plan of Action by the stated deadline.  Report the action(s) taken at the next Council meeting.
9. Assist in mealtime activities as needed, including escorting residents to the dining room.
10. Plan, coordinate and escort residents on community outings.  Drive vehicles for resident outings.
11. Maintain opportunities for all levels of care within the community to continue socialization and recreation pursuits together, as desired, making appropriate adaptations. Coordinate with other activities departments to consolidate activities.
12. Utilize community resources and share them with activities in all levels of care in the facility. Coordinate with other activities departments to broaden activity opportunities for residents.
13. Encourage resident self-esteem by visiting and conversing with residents on a regular basis.
14. Oversee the residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of residents by applying experience in activities and knowledge of diagnoses and conditions of residents.

1. Current qualified Activity Director or Recreational Therapist who is:
   1. Licensed or registered either nationally of by the State of Maryland; and
   2. Eligible for certification as an Activity Director or as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1, 1990; or
2. At least two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, one of which was full-time in a resident activities program servicing senior citizens in a health care setting.
3. Ability to apply interpersonal skills and capability to relate to a variety of people and personalities. Considerable initiative, judgement, and leadership skills are also required.
4. Flexibility regarding workload, assignments, hours and days (i.e. weekends, evenings, and holidays).
5. Bachelor’s degree in activities, gerontology or related field, preferred.
6. Current CPR certification.
7. Current Valid driver’s license and willing to pursue
