Are you ready to lead a pivotal role in shaping the success of our Engineering Project organization? The Environmental & Airframe Control Systems (EACS) business unit is looking to hire an experienced Engineering Project Leader who can manage all aspects of an Engineering program including schedules, budgets, risk, program strategy, program quotation, program delivery, priority allocation, problem resolution, and overall leadership for the Perigon®. The Senior Principal Project Engineer will be a part of the Perigon® leading and coordinating our matrixed organization to support the next phase of development through Design & Verification Testing. The role will involve supporting the execution of the current plan as well as to lead and coordinate different efforts across the team.

Interested candidates should be comfortable working independently and organizing cross functional teams to increase efficiency and collaboration.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills and work well in a team environment.

This position requires experience coordinating the development of technical proposals and cost estimates during the bid and proposal phase.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles* will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.  

What You Will Do

  • Monitors project plans, schedules, and budgets for projects. Identifies, develops, and gathers necessary resources to ensure project completion.
  • Manages all aspects of an engineering project and program.
  • Works with Engineering Managers to allocate Engineering and Certification resources.
  • Drives strategic program planning and assigns tasks to ensure business targets are met.
  • Conducts IPD meetings and prepares reports to effectively communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team.
  • Identifies and reacts to complex project problems and recommends solutions, such as reallocating resources, and assisting resolution development.
  • Supports all phases of Engineering from inception through completion.
  • Oversees and coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines.
  • Supports the preparation of external proposals, internal work statement quotations and terms/conditions of contracts.
  • Reviews project and budget status, manages schedules and prepares reports.
  • Monitors and assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Meets program schedules and budgets and maintains the integrated master schedules for project(s).
  • Proficient-level skills with Microsoft Project 2013 and MS Excel
  • Experience with high reliability controller electronics
  • Planning arbitration and adjudication across IPTs
  • Recovery planning and workaround facilitation
  • Working multiple schedules in parallel.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Good computer skills with ability to learn new programs/software
  • Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task amidst rapid change

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience 
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract 

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience working on NPI (New Product Introduction) projects.
  • Experience working within DO-254 and DO-178 certification program(s), including Stages of Involvement (SOI) Audits under EASA or FAA
  • Experience with resource loading, identifying and resolving over-allocations and resource reporting in MS Project
  • Experience with cost & schedule integration
  • Understanding of Project Management Theory and Concepts
