Job Description
The IT Business Application Support Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end management of the M365 environment, including SharePoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Power Platform. The role holder will support a spectrum of IT support activities, ranging from basic first-line assistance to managing complex integrations with third-party applications as well as collaborate with the IT department to scope, build and manage PowerApps and Power Automations for various workstreams at MetroLink.
Principal Accountabilities
- Provide first-line support for the M365 landscape, including SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Keep abreast of new M365 developments and understand the impacts that these will have on the MetroLink environment.
- Manage Azure Active Directory (AAD) groups, making sure that they are kept up to date.
- Liaise with the project managers to set up SSO and other integrations with Microsoft products (e.g. Teams).
- Discuss integration requirements with the IT project managers to make sure they are captured and communicated to suppliers.
- Own the development of new applications being built in Power Platforms to support MetroLink IT and other workstreams within MetroLink.
- Continuously assess the usage of SharePoint Intranet and MS Teams at MetroLink to provide assurance that the platforms are being used appropriately.
- Respond to requests for the set-up of new SharePoint/Teams environments.
- Act as the leading technician for helpdesk incidents relating to the M365 landscape and applications.
- Work with other members of IT support staff to coordinate and delegate tasks as necessary.
- Continually monitor and assess IT processes, such as from the helpdesk, and refine as necessary.
- Develop a knowledge base for M365 support using existing guidance provided by Microsoft and create material where MetroLink customisations render existing support materials redundant.
- Collaborate with the IT security lead at MetroLink to align the M365 environment with legal security standards that must be met.
- Identify vulnerabilities in the configuration and usage of M365 and work with the IT security lead to mitigate.
- Proactively plan resourcing requirements and report these to the IT Programme Manager.
- Support the onboarding of new IT support resources onto the project.
- Work closely with the IT department to understand the IT needs of each workstream.
- Perform additional tasks, activities or other duties as may be required or assigned as part of the role.
