We’re expanding our Total backend team and are now looking for a Senior Cloud & Backend Developer to join us. You’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that power F-Secure Total — ensuring performance, reliability, and security at scale.

About the Total backend team

Our team builds and maintains backend systems that power F-Secure Total, serving millions of consumers and partners globally. These systems are the backbone of our cybersecurity products—playing a key role in keeping users safe online every day.

We’re an experienced, international, and collaborative group: every member brings over a decade of hands-on expertise in Python, AWS, and modern development practices. The team currently includes colleagues from four nationalities and a strong culture of openness, learning, and shared ownership. We help each other succeed, share best practices, and value knowledge exchange as part of our daily work.

Ownership within the team is shared but structured—each developer has primary and backup responsibilities for different backends, ensuring continuity, resilience, and cross-domain learning.

We make extensive use of AWS and operate with a DevSecOps/SRE mindset, applying CI/CD, IaC, monitoring, and automation. The environment encourages curiosity and experimentation: we continuously evaluate new tools, adopt modern practices, and explore ways to integrate AI-driven approaches where they add value.

We’re based in Helsinki, Finland, with flexibility to work remotely or on-site. Remote team members are expected to join us in the office for co-working days at least once every two weeks.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, implement, test, and deploy backend systems on AWS infrastructure.
• Estimate work effort, assess risks, and participate in the continuous development of team practices and processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in collaboration with other teams; support production operations.
• Review code, ensure high quality through automated testing, and contribute to secure-by-design implementations.
• Collaborate with designers, testers, and other developers to ensure technical coherence and maintainability across systems.
• Participate in the adoption of new tools and practices, helping evolve our development environment and automation capabilities.
• Ensure security and compliance considerations are integral to designs and solutions.

What are we looking for?

• Solid hands-on experience in cloud and backend development, including:
  • AWS services (e.g., Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch)
  • Python and Bash
  • Linux environments
  • CI/CD tools and infrastructure as code
• Strong understanding of Agile software development practices.
• Proven ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems and balance trade-offs in real-world systems.
• A collaborative, proactive mindset—you communicate effectively and enjoy working in a team environment.

Bonus points for:

• Experience troubleshooting production environments and improving observability.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and security-focused development practices.
• Interest in AI-powered development and modern automation tooling.
