As the Lead Field Support Technician, you will be at the forefront of providing vital technical support, including aircraft product rework, installation support, and implementing supplier modification changes and upgrades. You will ensure strict adherence to procedures, maintain accurate records, and keep systems up-to-date while responding swiftly to both routine and critical situations under the direction of the Field Support Supervisor. In this role, you will act as a key liaison, maintaining open communication with third-party product support staff and the Field Support Manager to resolve technical issues and bring critical problems to the attention of the design department.
What You Will Do:
- Support incoming inspection for various seating programs to ensure quality standards are met.
- Monitor aircraft during the installation process in the factory, providing technical assistance as needed.
- Report technical issues and customer concerns to the Field Support Supervisor and Manager for timely resolution.
- Adjust, repair, or replace malfunctioning components or assemblies using hand tools and power tools.
- Install electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems in aircraft using hand tools, power tools, and software.
- Interpret engineering test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
- Lay out the installation of assemblies and systems by following documentation, including drawings, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
- Test and troubleshoot aircraft seats, components, and assemblies using appropriate tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Assemble prototypes or models of circuits, instruments, and systems for testing purposes.
- Coordinate work with the Field Support Supervisor, technicians, and other aircraft personnel to ensure seamless operations.
- Sign off on quality records of installation, troubleshooting, and rework to maintain compliance and accountability.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with experience in software interrogation via a laptop computer.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, product and component specifications, and service bulletins.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical details, design concepts, analysis results, and work pass downs through both verbal and written mediums.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic environment.
- Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification to demonstrate expertise in aircraft maintenance and repair.
- Associate of Science degree in a related technical field or an equivalent field of study.
- Familiarity and experience with flight line safety to ensure adherence to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Experience in a field support environment, providing technical assistance and resolving issues in real-time.
