Summary of Job Duties:

The Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a highly motivated full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow to join the Carreon Lab. The research focuses on advancing chemical processes enabled by non-thermal plasma and functional materials, with applications in sustainable energy, environmental remediation, and chemical manufacturing.

The researcher will gain hands-on experience in plasma reactor design and development, plasma-liquid interactions, and catalytic and membrane-based processes. Research areas include plasma/water interface reactors, dry methane reforming, catalysis, gas separation using membranes, VOC abatement, and material synthesis. The position also involves proposal and grant writing to support research funding and expand project directions. The candidate will have access to in-house developed plasma reactors and advanced characterization facilities, including SEM, TEM, XRD, and XPS. Mentorship will be tailored to the candidate’s career goals, including developing independence in research, proposal writing, project management, and scientific communication, as well as mentoring graduate students.
