Instructional Coach - District Wide

SUMMARY
Instructional Coach position with a primary focus on secondary education (grades 6�12), while providing support and collaboration across K�12.

The Instructional Coach is responsible for facilitating change in instructional practices of teachers that will enable teachers to diagnose student needs more analytically; plan more productively; and teach more effectively.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS 
The Instructional Coach reports to the Director of Instruction and/or Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Must have regular, reliable and punctual attendance
2. Provides leadership for teachers by planning, collaborating, organizing, mentoring and facilitating change to improve the instructional program.
3. Disaggregates and analyzes data and assists principals and teachers in its interpretation to measure and improve student achievement and/or program effectiveness.
4. Provides knowledge of appropriate standards, content, materials, and resources.
5. Facilitates the use of research-based teaching strategies and best practices to address the needs of teachers and school goals.
6. Provides staff development needed to implement the district's school improvement plan.
7. Establishes, maintains and enhances effective communication with administrators, teachers, parents and other stakeholders.
8. Works with principals and teachers in organizing grade level/department meetings in order to affect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of instructional program throughout the school.
9. Observes teachers in their classrooms and offers insights for the enhancement of teaching-learning situations.
10. Demonstrates appropriate use of instructional technology and other educational tools to enhance and extend instruction.
11. Helps initiate the IC Team process into the district.
12. Provides support to students by supporting classroom teachers.
13. Supports the on-going training and development of the IC Team.
14. Facilitates professional development for staff members.
15. Performs other duties related to the improvement of student achievement.
16. Follows all Board policies, state laws and regulations.
17. Provides support to other positions as required.
18. Knowledgeable in IB unit planning.
19. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

1. At least five (5) years teaching experience.
2. Training or interest in Direct Interactive Instruction, IB, Inquiry-based teaching strategies, curriculum crafter, or other related areas preferred. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

1. Valid Teaching Certificate.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
