About the role
Description
GENERAL
Directs and coordinates the activities of Aircraft Mechanics engaged in maintenance and repair of
Company aircraft, components and related equipment in accordance with FAA and Company
regulations, policies, and procedures. Supervises the maintenance, repairs and cleaning of
Company buildings, facilities and grounds.
OBJECTIVE
To run the line maintenance operation in the safest, productive and efficient manner possible.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATIONSHIPS
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervises all shift operations in the line maintenance directly or through supervisors in accomplishing aircraft maintenance.
- Establishes priorities and plans to accomplish scheduled and unscheduled maintenance items in an efficient and timely manner.
- Ensures that all personnel follow established quality requirements and guidelines; and that work is accomplished and properly documented per Company and FAA requirements.
- Supervises the completion of the paperwork at each shift change and verifies that all partial work accomplished is documented and that all paperwork is accounted for, turned in, and is available for the start of the next shift.
- Reviews and approves parts requisitions after determining that the need is justified and other alternatives have been considered.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment in active work areas.
- Enforces all Company safety policies and procedures, instructs employees in the correct way to avoid injuries and schedules required safety training as required.
- Inspects the overall condition of the facility and grounds and equipment on a regular basis to determine what work, repairs, cleaning etc. needs to be done.
- Maintains a status board of facility projects requiring work; prioritizes and schedules the completion of these projects and ensures that they are completed properly and in a timely manner.
- Develops, maintains, and revises employee work schedules as necessary to keep adequate
- personnel on staff for the workload as planned.
- Supervises record keeping for time and production information.
- Ensures that maintenance personnel do not exceed 14 CFR limitations regarding duty time.
- Completes employee evaluations and discuss them with the individual employees, making suggestions and recommendations for improvement in performance as indicated. Discusses such evaluations with upper management prior to the employee review meeting.
- Enforces discipline and Company rules and regulations throughout the organization.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods and efficiency within the
- maintenance operation; works with Quality Control and Maintenance Administration to implement new or revised procedures.
- Make suggestions to improve working conditions or in the use of new tooling and equipment to increase shop capability.
- Assists as required in completing special projects or assignments within the department as the need arises.
