Position Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE: 

To assure the warper is ran efficiently which includes creeling and starting and ending beams. 

Also requires to do the necessary paperwork for each beam. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (CONSIDERING JOB KNOWLEDGE, JOB ENVIRONMENT, EFFORT, MANIPULATIVE SKILL, JUDGEMENT, SAFETY 

KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIBILITY): 

I. Starting a Beam 

A. Zero the yardage meter and the poundage meter. 

B. Pull the yarn ends down so they will wrap around the empty beam. 

C. Roll the empty beam under the warper arms and then lower the ARMS over the Beam. 

D. Press the "UP" button to raise the Beam onto the Warper. 

1. Insert Safety Pins. 

2. Wrap ends around the Beam and lay the ends of the yarn between the beam and warper drum, 

check ends for correct spacing. 

3. Push the "START" button to begin Warper. 

4. Center the Beam using the adjuster that moves the Beam from side to side if the beam is 

touching one side of the Warper drum or the other. 

II. Setting Up a Beam Set 

A. Adjust yardage meter to run the poundage required per Beam. 

III. Ending a Beam 

A. After the weight reaches the pounds required per Beam, the Warper will stop automatically 

if the yardage meter has been preset and reaches the point of zero on the counter. 

B. Tape the ends at the free rolling bar. 

1. Since only one side of the ends have tape, run the beam enough so the tape is on the 

other side of the ends. 

2. Tape the ends again on top of the first strip of tape. 

3. Put the tape on the Beam with adhesive side up, and stick ends of tape to the side of the Beam. 

4. Run Beams around on rotation and tape other side of yarn. (Adhesive to Adhesive) 

5. Pull the ends through the Warper and cut, then tie the ends back out of the way. 

6. Gather the ends into two sections and tuck under some ends on the Beams. 

7. Tie the tail into a slip knot. 

8. Put Beam information on each Beam before doffing. 

IV. Mending Yarn 

A. After warping the 1st or 2nd beam, gather four or five packages for mending yarn. 

B. Check the lot number and write on a piece of paper (Tag). 

C. Tape the packages together with the tag visible. 

D. Put the mending yarn in the holding bins behind the warpers.
