Sr Quality Engineer

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The North America Automotive Team is looking for a Quality Engineer to join the team in Novi, MI. The Quality Engineer provides Quality Systems Engineering support to NNA Automotive Value Stream and handles the quality systems being developed and implemented. The incumbent is responsible for carrying out the QCI principles in quality systems development and deployment. This position will have an OEM Automotive Customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Work with Automotive Account Teams and Regional Quality and Continuous Improvement management to ensure appropriate organizational knowledge and subject area
• Provide data and feedback to the Global Quality and Continuous Improvement teams on Perfect Process performance
• Coordinate the preparation of PPAP packages for Automotive customers for new products and product changes
• Coordinate and track APQP activities for new products and report to management monthly
• Ensure that IATF-16949 requirements are completed on time and review with management at monthly metrics reviews
• Lead 8D problem solving activities and Root Cause Analysis in the Automotive Value Stream as a team leader
• Submit and track Management of Change Process internal and externally
• Communicate the Novelis Scorecard ratings per customer scorecard systems and report on monthly basis
• Communicate and train Novelis plant personnel on all customer specific requirements
• Meet with customers on program status as scheduled by customers
• Present performance data at customer facing meetings/reviews
• Ensure data integrity for presentations to internal and external customers
• Facilitate teams to formalizing solutions to problems daily
• Coordinate the definition of Internal and external Quality Metrics that are reported monthly
• Ensure that data is accurate
• Procure the data from multiple sources on a weekly basis
• Report all updates to data at team meetings weekly

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree – Quality Engineering/Industrial Engineering or related field
• 5-7 years of experience in the field of Quality Engineering/Industrial Engineering or related field
• Any of the following certifications preferred – CQE/CQA/CQM Six Sigma Belt
• Aluminum or Stamping experience is a plus
• Experience with Automotive customers/suppliers is preferred
• Ability to multitask
• Excellent time management, problem-solving and communication skills
• Minitab experience preferred
• Knowledgeable in automotive requirements (PPAP,Control Plans,FMEA,APQP)
• Able to convince partners on new concepts
• Strong analytical skills
• Travel up to 50% within region or local Michigan area, (frequently a day trip without an overnight stay)
